During graduate school, Alexis Sales gained a lot of knowledge of how to promote healthy lifestyles, advocate for health equity in the community, and evaluate interventions to ensure the overall wellness of community is established and maintained. Following completion of her graduate program, Alexis was added on as a new addition to the OROD team. Prior to her work with OROD, she worked with LiveWell Greenville with developing a Hispanic resource guide focused on reducing childhood obesity. Alexis participated in meetings with stakeholders and project staff to help with advancing the Community Action Plan in the Greenville County area. She worked with MyConnect based in New York, which is designed to help identify resources for parents of children with developmental delays. Alexis researched providers to identify services and evaluated the effectiveness of the resources. In addition, Alexis has experience working in child welfare with SCDSS as a case manager. During this role, she was responsible for providing various services including entering client information into their software system, facilitating treatment plans, and referring children in foster care and their families to additional services if needed.
